How can I find out my tyres size?
There are two ways to find out the tyre size, check the vehicle handbook and this will give the correct sizes, but generally there is more than one size listed, so this brings you to the second way and that is to look at the sidewall of the tyre. Image below shows information of size.
When should I change my tyres?
We recommend that you replace your tyres once they are at 3mm or tread however the legal limit is 1.6mm. Tread depth is what allows the water to be displaced from beneath the road and the tyre, without sufficient tread depth aquaplaning occurs.
Also a tyre should be replaced if it gets damaged, tyres should be checked on a regular basis.
How do I know if I need alignment?
Alignment checks should be carried out every 10,000kms, if you have work carried out on the suspension, if you hit a pothole, if you notice uneven tyre wear or your car's handling is poor.
We carry out free alignment checks for our newsletter and loyalty club subscribers.
Do we fit second hand/ part worn tyres?
TyreAware does not fit second hand tyres. Did you know that in an accident if your car is fitted with second hand tyres it maybe deemed uninsured?
A new tyre has 8mm of tread with 6.4mm usable before illegal compared to a second hand/ part worn tyre sold with 3.8mm of tread, that’s only 2.2mm before illegal.
It’s usually works out cheaper to buy new and definitely safer!
